A Successful Tech Day Series

The series began on August 22nd in Auckland, followed by another successful event in Wellington on August 29th. Christchurch hosted our third Tech Day on September 24th, and concluded with a final Auckland event on October 22nd.

Each event offered a chance for attendees to learn more about our Sovereign New Zealand Hyperscale Cloud, hear from industry leaders, engage in discussions on cloud adoption, sustainability, security, and more.

Key speaker at our Auckland Tech Day Ian Kerr shared that the energy at these events was palpable, and the feedback received overwhelmingly positive. It’s been an exciting time for everyone involved, and we’re thrilled to have shared our vision for the future of cloud in New Zealand.

You don't need to buy resources “Shapes" that you don't need. Match your cloud resources exactly to your applications' needs. Flexible pricing models.; much lower cost than on-prem or non-cloud. Move between clouds easily to maximise your opportunity and minimise costs:

• To get a decent price you have to lock in "reserved instances" for years in advance. Isn't that just like having to buy hardware for your peak times even when you may not need it 90% of the time?
• Reserved and locked-in instances remove your ability to scale up and down as your workloads fluctuate. You pay for this reserve, even if you don't need it. Huh?
• Do you have an application that needs 3CPUs and 5GB RAM? Most clouds say "Sorry, you can't have that. You have to "buy" 8CPUs and 16GB RAM." or something along those lines. Really? This over-provisioning costs you more. It's like being forced to buy a much larger tee-shirt size than you'll ever need.
• Getting data into (and especially OUT of) some Clouds can be exorbitantly expensive. This is unquestionably to lock you in. Sort of like Hotel California... "You can check out any time you like, but you can NEVER leave..."
